Phil Ivey Wins $250,000 Super High Roller Event 20 Aussie Millions
In what can only be described as surgical poker, Phil Ivey has once again put the poker world on notice cementing his title as the greatest poker player of the modern era after winning the largest buy-in poker tournament in the world, the $250,000 Buy-in Super High Roller Event at Crown Casino, event 20 of the Aussie Millions.
Last year was the first time the $250K Challenge was ran, and the event drew an incredible 20 players to the table creating history for Crown Casino and the Aussie Millions. Crown's Executive Manager of Table Games Sean McCreery is credited with the concept of the $250K challenge and said that the idea for the super high-stakes game is part of a plan by the casino to make Australia one the foremost destinations for poker players in the world.
"If you think about it, some of these players have to fly 40 hours just to be in the tournament," he said.
"We try to create a whole experience for them here at Crown. Some of the players have told me this is their favourite event of the season."
This years Super High Rollers Event saw 16 of the worlds top players combined with some of the worlds richest businessmen take their seats to compete for the $4,000,000 prize pool. Phil Ivey was having a very nice run in the Aussie Millions Main event leading up to the Super High Rollers, and his presence in the Main Event even prompted the Aussie Millions Organisers to move the Super High Rollers Event on the official schedule to accommodate the super star. Phil's run in the Aussie Millions Main Event ended when he finished in 12th place collecting $100,000 for his efforts.
Saturday was shaping up to be a long day for Phil however, as after his bust out from the Aussie Millions Main Event, he walked up to Studio 3 and entered the richest buy-in poker tournament in the world, the $250,000 buy-in Super High Rollers Event.
When the tournament came down to the final four players, the top 4 tournament players in the world were seated together ready to burst the biggest bubble in modern poker. 4th place was set to walk away with $0 while 3rd would pocket a whopping $800,000. The final four players consisted of Patrik Antonius, Gus Hansen, Daniel Negreanu and Phil Ivey.
During four handed play, Daniel made the following comment to Gus, "Wouldn't it be sick if you bubble this event as well?"
Daniel was referencing the $100K buy-in event that took place only a few days earlier where Gus was unfortunate enough to be the bubble boy of that tournament.
As the poker gods had it however, Daniel would soon "Eat Some Of That" and he was the first player to make an error four handed when he made a bad read on Patrik and came over the top of Patrik's pre-flop raise holding only a measly A♠ 8♦ against the monster of J♣ J♦ that Patrik was holding.
Once Daniel became the Bubble boy, Phil Ivey put on a poker clinic against two of the worlds best tournament players and was soon crowned the latest $250K Super High Roller Champion.
When play arrived heads up, Phil Ivey ushered what is set to be quite possibly the greatest comment of this year's Aussie Millions.
Ivey looked at Antonius and said, "You want to make a deal?"
Keeping in mind that there was $2,000,000 for the winner with $1,200,000 going to second place. Phil Ivey had just busted out of the Aussie Millions Main Event 18 hours earlier, sat down with the best players in the world for the biggest buy-in in the world, made it heads up where he was guaranteed at least $1.2 Million, and he says, "I want to play for it all!!!!"
Phil Ivey - We salute you

2012 Aussie Millions Main Event - Phil Ivey Looming
The 2012 Aussie Millions Main Event is set to start Day 4's play with just 26 players left vying for the title of 2012 Aussie Millions Main Event Champion and the $1,600,000 payday that sits up top.
Without doubt all eyes will be set on the worlds number one player, American Phil Ivey. Ivey is currently 6th in chips with 1,107,000 with the average stack at 760,385. Ivey is no stranger to final tables in big tournaments and he will certainly be the player to beat heading into play today.
Alongside Ivey there are a few local hopefuls looking to cement their name into poker folklore, one such local is Sydney poker player and school teacher Grant 'Grunter' Levy. Levy burst onto the poker scene in late 2007 after he won the APPT Main Event collecting $1,000,000 AUD. Over the past few year's few players have been as consistent as Levy at the tables, with multiple victories across the country as well as deep runs in most tournaments that he enters. Levy recently signed a new sponsorship deal with online poker site Hero Poker, and no doubt he will be looking to represent his team with a nice run at this year's biggest event in the region.
Play today kicks off at 12:30pm in the Crown Poker room, and by the end of play today, we will have the final table set for play on Sunday at 12:30. The final table of the Aussie Millions Main Event has been rescheduled to take place on Sunday at 12:30 in Studio 3 with the $250K Super High Roller event scheduled to take place on Saturday at 4pm also in Studio 3. If you are a fan of the best poker in the world, then you must get down to Crown to enjoy the best action and the best players in the world.

Phil Ivey 3 Cupcakes and 90K
The 2012 Aussie Millions Main Event is the number one poker tournament on the Australasian calendar, featuring a $10,600 buy-in and an estimated 1st place payout of $2,000,000. Everyone who is everyone always makes the journey down to the Crown Casino in Melbourne every January to take part in the world class event.
Today marks the start of Day 1c of the $10,600 buy-in Main Event and the numbers this year are slightly lower than last year's, but by no stretch are they that much lower. So far, there are 655 registered players creating a massive $6,550,000 prize pool with the $2M first place payout all but guaranteed, you can be sure that there will be plenty of tension in the room over the coming days play.
This years numbers are slightly lower for the Aussie Millions and this could be attributed to Full Tilt Poker who were the title sponsors of the Series for the past 2 years, and along with that sponsorship, the biggest and best names in the industry would come down to support the event with their presence. At this years Aussie Millions however, all the focus is on one poker player, the enigma of the green felt, the veritable 'Tiger Woods' of poker - Phil Ivey.
Currently, Phil has managed to work his starting stack all the way up to a very enviable 95,000 in chips. Helping fuel Phil's play this year are the 10th anniversary cup cakes that Crown Marketing have provided for players in this years big dance. Since last count, Phil has managed to consume three of these tasty models and if play continues the way it is, some say he may even win the main event today eliminating every player in the field along with another 100 cupcakes.

For those looking for updates from Day 1a or Day 1b, here are the names and chip counts of those lucky enough to make it through to Day 2 tomorrow.
