Tiger Woods has shot a very solid 5-under par 67 in the third round of the AT& T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Woods is now within four strokes of the lead and is set to make a run at his first PGA win since 2009. His play this week has been promising for the fans worldwide who can't wait to see the former world number one back on top of the world rankings doing what he does best, winning. Only two months ago Woods had a small taste of success when won the Chevron World Challenge. Although not an official event, it certainly aided in building the confidence of Woods. “A win is a win. I’ve won my share of events, and it feels good,” Woods said Saturday. “That’s the ultimate goal and that’s what we set out to do at the beginning of every event is to win it.…
BRAD KENNEDY WINS NEW ZEALAND OPEN IN PLAYOFF
Written by Rob Huxley | Monday, 05 December 2011 05:10
Australian Brad Kennedy has won the 2011 New Zealand Open in dramatic fashion beating fellow Aussie Craig Parry in a playoff. On the first playoff hole, Parry sent his drive into the fairway bunker setting up Kennedy for the win. Kennedy managed to find the green in regulation and was primed to take advantage. Even though Parry had put his drive into the bunker, Kennedy still had a 30-foot birdie put to claim the title, which of course he did. "The playoff was great. To play against someone like Craig and to win holing a putt for birdie was fantastic," said Kennedy. Brad Kennedy entered the tournament as the highest-ranked player, world No.228, but was deserving of the win after he held a share of the lead after all four rounds when he shot 68, 71, 68 and 74. "I've never gone wire to wire," Kennedy said. "Most of my…

West Australian Greg Chalmers has won his second major in as many events this weekend by winning the Australian PGA Championship at the Hyatt Regency Coolum. Robert Allenby, Marcus Fraser and Greg Chalmers all finished at 12 under par sending the championship into a playoff. Chalmers managed to win the Championship after only the first playoff hole, adding the Joe Kirkwood Cup and $270,000 to his cabinet at home. “The Australian PGA has our longest history. To have a little piece of that history is what it is all about, and I have got that now and that is just fantastic,” said Chalmers.
“I was a little surprised that 12 under ended up getting into the playoff I thought at the time that would be a nice top three or five tournament.”
“It was a little tricky today, but I thought there was still quite a few birdies out there. I just…
TEAM USA have putt, putt, putted their way to a ninth President’s Cup on the lightning fast greens at Royal Melbourne. Putts that weren’t dropping on the first three days were plonking into the bottom the hole from the start of the final day with Jim Furyk and Tiger Woods leading the way. After heading into the last days of play with a 13-9 lead and 12 singles matches in hand the USA were never seriously challenged. Early wins to South Africa’s Charl Schwartzel, Japan’s Ryo Ishikawa and Australia’s Geoff Ogilvy breathed a little life into the Internationals but the USA had stranglehold on most of the groups behind them. Appropriately it was Furyk who defeated Ernie Els 4 up with 3 to play who put the USA to on 17 points that set up the victory. Furyk was the only player to go through the entire four days without…

AUSTRALIAN Greg Chalmers has won his second Australian Open title at The Lakes in Sydney. The last time Chalmers hoisted the Stonehaven Cup was at Royal Adelaide in 1998, thirteen years ago. This time around, Chalmers had to hold on against a field that some say is one of the strongest ever assembled. Crowd favourite Tiger Woods may have had a forgettable third round, but on Sunday the Tiger was out for blood and was making his charge for the title. Woods finished two shots clear of Chalmers with a five under 67 yesterday and one shot clear of John Senden who was one shot behind Chalmers. The West Australian veteran golfer Chalmers was emotional during the winners presentation as he wiped tears from his eyes. His parents were present at The Lakes along with his five-year old son Lachlan, while back in Dallas, his wife Nicole was with their…

Fellow Aussie and veteran John Senden is currently in the lead after a blistering nine-under 63 yesterday. The 24 year-old Day celebrated his birthday in front of thousands of fans on The Lakes course yesterday as he kept up his very solid tournament performance to date with another day of great golf. "I woke up this morning and actually forgot it was my birthday until my wife said, 'happy birthday'," Day said."It was a really good day today, it was a nice solid round.""I am very happy with the position I am in for tomorrow. I could not ask for more.""Obviously being in the lead would be nice but I'm in the final group.""It has been a while…
TIGER Woods holds the lead in the Emirates Australian Open by 1 stroke after shooting a five under 67 yesterday at the Sydney Lakes course. The former world number one has not won a tournament since the 2009 Australian Masters and is seeking to continue his run today as a world class field are in tow. Jason Day is also looming with -7 for the two rounds and is sitting in 3rd place on the leader board. While the Aussies are looming today, yesterday was all about the Tiger show as the 35-year old started off with one of the most exciting front nine's of the day shooting five birdies surging to the outright lead. Wood's…
The Frys.com Open in San Martin California is the centre of the Golf media at the moment, and while all eyes are on former world number one Tiger Woods, a handful of Aussies are in looming to take the glory and a slice of the $5,000,000 purse. Sitting in equal second place at 3 under par are Aussies Rod Pampling, Aron Price, Matt Jones and Steven Bowditch. Only one shot behind that pace are fellow Aussie's Jarrod Lyle and Greg Chalmers who shot 69 for 2 under par and equal 3rd place in the overall standings. While the media continue to focus on Tiger, the Aussies are positioning themselves well amongst a strong field. While Woods was an early favourite in the betting on Sportsbet, he has now dropped to an outside chance and is paying $17.00 for anyone looking to have a bet on golf. Woods started off in…
