Black Caviar Ready for 21-21
Champion racehorse Black Caviar has drawn gate eight in this weekends $500,000 The Goodwood in Morphettville in Adelaide. With 20 wins in a row, Black Caviar is seeking to extend that streak to an incredible 21 wins in a row.
30 horses entered the signature sprint with only nine starters left when the final barriers were drawn on Tuesday.
Mark Kavangh has two runners in the race with We're Gonna Rock (6) and Catapulted (2) in the 1200m Group 1 sprint race.
Black Caviar will carry the top weight of 57kg which is only half a kilo above Catapulted. Three other runners, Weholdtheace (1), Stanzout (5) and Stirling Grove (4) on the limit of 54.5kg.
Trainer of Black Caviar Peter Moody gave the green light for the champion to start in Adelaide following a satisfactory work-out at Caufield earlier on Tuesday morning.
Following this weekends race, Black Caviar will continue her phenomenal career with a three week break and then a plane ride into the history books as she heads to England to take part in the Group 1 Golden Jubilee Stakes (1200m) at the Royal Ascot carnival taking place from June 19th - 23rd.
Online betting sites such as Bet 365 have launched the champion at rather prohibitive odds of $1.04 with the second favourite being Go The Knuckle who is paying an incredible $21. AFL champion Matthew Pavlich is a part-owner of the three-year old gelding, and it is reported that connections have knocked back offers of up to $750,000 on the back of three wins from seven starts. Mark Minervini has Shane Cahill riding the youngster on 55.5kg and believes that they have a serious task ahead of them this weekend.
"We believe we have a reasonably handy three-year-old but we are under no illusions of the task ahead," Minervini said.
The last time Black Caviar rode at Morphettville she drew a sell-out crown of 30,000+, and this weekend promises to see similar crowds gather to see her break yet another record.
Be proud Australia, Black Caviar is a once in a lifetime champion that we can all call our own.
Online Sportsbetting company Bet 365 is one of the best companies in the world and is offering punters a great 1st time deposit bonus of 100% up to $200.

World Series Of Poker Asia - Crown Casino To Host WSOP APAC 2013
Crown Casino have announced an exciting partnership with the worlds largest poker brand, the World Series Of Poker. Set to take place at Crown Casino in Melbourne from April 4-15 2013, the World Series of poker Asia-Pacific (WSOP APAC) is a natural extension in the worlds largest gaming market.
WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart said, “Our goal is to establish the worldwide grand slam of poker and use our platform to elevate the game through a series of major championships,”
“With WSOP Las Vegas growing annually and WSOP Europe poised for long-term success after five years, the time is right to turn our attention to the dynamic poker scene in Asia and Australia. Given Crown’s success with the ‘Aussie Millions Poker Championship’, we couldn’t ask for a better partner than Crown to establish the Asia-Pacific’s definitive poker festival.”
Crown Casino in Melbourne already plays host to the worlds largest tournament series outside of the World Series Of Poker in Las Vegas with the Aussie Millions series each January attracting the worlds premier players. Crown Melbourne's CEO Greg Hawkins said, “This exciting partnership brings together two industry leaders, and two strong brands, to create a premier poker event in this region,”
“Our agreement firmly aligns with our objective of attracting the very best local and international players, all vying for a coveted WSOP bracelet. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved with the Aussie Millions and look forward to featuring WSOP Asia Pacific on our poker calendar in April 2013.”
The WSOP brand is one of the worlds most iconic and every poker player in the world dreams of someday being the proud owner of coveted WSOP Bracelet. The WSOP brand is 42-years old and in 2007 it expanded beyond the USA with the launch of the WSOP Europe in London (2007-2010) and subsequently into France (2011). The WSOP APAC is set to tap into the tremendous growth of peer-2-peer gaming in this region.
As part of the agreement with the WSOP, the WSOP APAC events are expected to be televised globally across ESPN.
One person who is no stranger to ESPN and the WSOP is Aussie local hero, Joe Hachem. In 2005 Joe won the most prestigious poker event in the world, the World Series Of Poker Main Event.
“It’s thrilling to think the World Series of Poker is coming to Australian soil,” said Joe Hachem. “I know first-hand what a life-changing moment winning the WSOP gold bracelet was and how it served as a catalyst for the growth of poker in Australia and Asia. It will be a dream come true to host a worldwide poker event such as this at Crown. I can’t wait.”
The full WSOP APAC schedule is set to be released later this year.
Lagi Tupua Reigns Supreme In Parramatta
The National Poker League (NPL) Quarterly Final was wrapped up this weekend at the Parramatta Leagues Club in Sydney with local player Lagi Leota Tupua being crowned the eventual champion. Lagi takes home $21,500 along with a ticket into the NPL 500 event which is set to take place in August this year at The Star Casino. In addition to the cash and ticket, Lagi earned herself a massive 20,000 points towards the National Poker Leagues Player Of The Year race.
The NPL Quarterly Final featured 291(282 + 9 NPL Masters Team Members) players and a $550 buy-in creating a massive prize pool of $141,000. Action began on Saturday morning with all players taking their seats in the Parramatta Leagues Club Ball room. The action began at 11am and play ended at 11:30pm with 63 players remaining in the field. Sunday was day 2 and Lagi held a massive chip lead on the field with 411,000 in chips, more than 100,000 ahead of her nearest competitor.
At approximately 4pm Sunday the final table of 9 was set, with Aaron xxxx holding the chip lead with 1,580,000 in chips.
NPL QUARTERLY FINAL TABLE CHIP COUNTS
| PLAYER | CHIP COUNT |
| Aaron Cole | 1,580,000 |
| Richard Fepuleaui | 875,000 |
| Lagi Leota Tupua | 700,000 |
| Matt Russel | 650,000 |
| Fred Khalil | 490,000 |
| Shane Costello | 410,000 |
| Mick Markanovic | 355,000 |
| Brad Down | 325,000 |
First to hit the rail was Shane Costello when the blinds were 20,000/40,000 he moved his last 335,000 into the middle from early position holding 9♣ 9♠. The action was folded around to Mathew Joyce in the big blind who woke up with T♥ T♠, Matt made the call and the final board ran out A♦ A♥ 4♠ T♣ 2♠ giving Matt tens full and sending Shane to the rail in 9th place collecting $2,500 for his efforts this weekend.
Next to depart was Mick Markanovic after he called off his last 170,000 in chips holding A♥ 4♦ against the late position raise from Richard Fepuleai who held the K♥ Q♥. The final board rolled out Q♦ 2♣ 3♣ 9♣ 7♦ giving Richard a pair of queens and sending Mick home with his Ace high no pair. Mick took home $3,000 for his 8th place finish.
Taking out 7th place was Brad Down after he moved all in over the top of mid position raiser Adam Taylor holding on to A♥ 7♠ against Adam's J♥ T♠. The final board ran out 7♣ 9♦ J♦ 3♣ 5♣ giving Adam a pair of Jacks to top Brads pair of seven. Brad took home $3,750 for the weekends work.
The Quarterly final had a special bonus in store for the top 6 players, with an added bonus of NPL 500 tickets being awarded to the top 6 places. These tickets are valued at $2420 and allow players entry into the August NPL 500 event scheduled to take place at The Star casino. This event will feature a $500,000 prize pool with 250 player and is one that isn't to be missed by anyone who is in the Sydney area at the time.
Finishing in 6th place was local Sydney player player Adam Taylor. Adam raised from middle position holding 9♠ 9♦ only to have chip leader Mathew Joyce come over the top for all the beans with A♦ K♥. Adam made the call and they were off to the poker races. The flop was relatively safe when it came down 4♠ Q♣ 8♠. The turn brought the 7♦ leaving just one more card. The river was the A♣ and like a dagger to the heart, Adam's tournament was over. Expect to see a deep run for him at the upcoming NPL 500 in August. Adam collected $3,250 + $2,420 NPL 500 III Ticket.
When the final table began Frederick was trying desperately to convince the entire final table to make a deal. The general consensus however was to play on and no deal was made. As each player was eliminated, Fred continued his deal preaching, however the players at the final table still wanted nothing to do with it. In the end, it would be the Samoan Destroyer Lagi who would finally put an end to the constant pestering deal discussions after Fred moved his last 325,000 into the middle from late position holding the 'Ralph Perry' K♥ J♠. Unfortunately for him Lagi woke up in the big blind with the the monster K♠ K♦ and gave an instant fist pump snap call. The board was not to save him as it ran out 6♥ 4♣ A♥ 5♣ T♥. Frederick Khalil finished in 5th place and took home $4,500 + $2,420 NPL 500III Ticket for his outstanding efforts over the weekend.
Once play became 4 handed and the pestering talk of the deal subsided following the elimination of Fred, the last 4 players decided the time was perfect to in fact do a deal. ;-) With $83,500 remaining in the prize pool, each player picked up a very healthy $20,500 for their efforts, with the players agreeing to award the remaining $1,500 to the eventual winner. After the deal was struck between all parties, the next to hit the rail was Aaron Cole after he decided to call of his remaining stack BLIND holding Q♥ 8♥ against the button raise from Mat who held A♣ 4♦. The flop offered no help for Aaron after it landed A♠ 4♠ 9♦ giving Mat two pair and leaving Aaron needing running cards to improve. The turn brought the 7♥ and the river the 8♣ bringing no help and he was subsequently eliminated in 4th place taking home $20,500 + $2,420 NPL 500 III Ticket for the weekends play.
Three handed play didn't last too long after Richard moved his last 900,000 into the middle holding 9♦ 6♦. Mat made the call with Q♠ J♦ and after the flop landed Q♥ 6♣ 5♣ Richard was behind and looking for help. The turn and river were the Q♦ and the Q♣ giving Mat Quads and ending the dream of Richard of being the next NPL Quarter Final champion. Richard took home $21,000 + $2,420 NPL 500 III Ticket.
Heads up play began with both players have relatively the same chip counts, Mat held approximately 3.1M in chips with Lagi holding on to the remaining 2.6M in chips. After a little jostling play heads up, Lagi took the lead and it wasn't long before she managed to get Mat to commit all of his chips for the final hand.
From the button, Mat moved all in holding 9♥ 9♠ and Lagi found a call with Q♣ 8♣. The final board rolled out 8♦ Q♠ 3♥ 8♠ J♠ giving The Samoan Destroyer Eights Full Of Queens and the title of NPL Quarterly Final Champion.
Well done to all the players who took part in this weekends event, it was a great event and all the players had a great time. Good luck to the 6 lucky NPL 500 ticket winners, I hope you all turn those tickets into mega bucks come August this year.
During the weekend I took a photograph of the room every minute, the result is the time lapse video you see below. Enjoy it, and if you see yourself, feel free to comment on this article.

Gai Seeks Doncaster Mile Trifecta
Sportsbet are one of the leading online sportsbetting companies, and this weekend they want to make sure you back a winner in the BMW Doncaster Mile.
The Doncaster Miler (1600m) is one of Sydney's premier Group 1 races and is part of the Autumn racing carnival. This weekend, Sportsbet are giving you the chance to back a winner in the big race, and should your horse run second, they will give you a refund of your win bet up to $100. That's a great offer and one that everyone should be taking advantage of this weekend.
Champion trainer Gai Waterhouse is seeking to pick up the rare trifecta in the Doncaster with her three hopefuls, More Joyous $6 favourite, Niagara $8.50 and Fast Clip $31 all making a start in the mile long race.
Gai faces some stiff competition in the Doncaster Mile with Shoot Out, Secret Admirer and Sincero all looking to keep her stable from a win this weekend.
The weather in Sydney may play a large part for this weekend's racing, with heavy rain all week leading up to the race with further rain predicted for Saturday's racing. Punters should be looking at the form of all those in the big race especially those who like a run in the mud. Chris Waller trained Danleigh is priced at $61 but loves a run in the mud, perhaps this 8 year old Gelding can show them up on race day if the rain comes down heavy.
Whichever way you look at it, this weekends racing action is set for some great action. Miller's Guide recommends that everyone get on board with the great offer from Sportsbet, and if you are yet to open your account, visit the official Miller's Guide Sportsbet Review page for complete details.

Black Caviar Ready For 19 Straight
The world's number one racehorse, Black Caviar, is set to set to break even more records tomorrow at Flemington in the Group 1 - 1000m Coolmore Lightning Stakes. The Lightning Stakes is the only 1000m Group 1 race in Australia and is the first leg of the Global Sprint Challenge. The 2012 Global Sprint Challenge will showcase 10 of the worlds most elite sprint races across six countries allowing those who compete a chance to win a US$1 Million bonus.
Black Caviar pulled up sensationally after easily defeating the competition last Saturday at Caulfield in the 1400m CF Orr Stakes. Trainer Peter Moody was commented on the champions performance.
"She has pulled up terrific and I am really happy with her," Peter Moody said.
"She had a nice little gallop here this morning and then a swim in the pool and she looks great."
"She'll take the lightning in her stride, no worries."
"Running in the Lightning is something I have had in the back of my head for some time, although I didn't make that public."
Black Caviar will race tomorrow at Flemington Race 6 Group 1 1000m Coolmore Lightning Stakes at 4:10 and the crowds will certainly be out to watch the champion as she goes for her 19th straight win.
Facing up against Black Caviar is the famous arch-nemesis Hay List. A champion in his own right, Hay List has played 2nd fiddle to Black Caviar since she came onto the scene 18 wins ago. Last year Hay List finished 2nd to Black Caviar in this same race, and many are tipping that the same result will in fact come about again tomorrow.

India Defeats Australia in Adelaide
Reigning world champions India have shown that there may still be some fight left in this year's Commonwealth Bank ODI series by beating Australia by 4 wickets.
Australia won the toss and Clarke sent in his team to bat. A revised batting lineup saw Warner and Ponting open proceedings for the Aussies. Ponting never looked comfortable and was caught early only registering 6 runs. Warner began to bed in when a brilliant piece of fielding led to a run out sending him home for just 18 runs. The Aussie captain Michael Clarke came in at first drop and looked very strong, smashing 5 boundaries in his quick fire 38. One of the highlights for the Aussies however was Peter Forrest who came to the crease and managed an impressive 66 which included 2 sixes and 5 boundaries. David Hussey top scored for the Aussies with a solid 72 from 76 deliveries. At the end of the 50 overs, the Aussies managed to tally 269 setting the stage for the Indian batsmen under the Adelaide lights.
With a decent total to chase, the Indian opening batsmen set about ferociously against the Aussie bowling attack. Gautam Gambhir led the chase with a man of the match performance hitting 92 from 111 balls before he was given out LBW from McKay. Other Indians also stepped up keeping the strike rate up while chipping away at the total, Raina (38 from 30), Sharma (33 from 41).
"Winning games are far more important than attaining individual goals ... winning is all that we should play for," Gambhir said.
"I've always believed any runs a person can score which can help the team win are far more important than getting 100 or being on a losing side."
"Ninety-two was fine and I was the top run getter but I think most of the contributions coming from the other guys – even those 12 runs of Rivandra Jadeja - were just as crucial."
"It would have been good if I would have scored a century, but it's about the team and contributions, so it was good to have scored 92 and won a match for the team."
In the end however, it was a captains knock that secured the win for the Indian team. MS Dhoni left the run chase till the very end, with the Indian's needing 13 runs from the last 5 balls. In spectacular fashion however, Dhoni smashed one of the biggest sixes of the summer (112m) straight over the bowlers head to set up the win for the boys in Blue.
Man of the Match Gambhir would have liked the Indians to secure the win a lot sooner, however he was happy with his captains performance and team's victory.
"We should have finished the game in the 48th ... but that's easier said than done as there is always far more pressure on the players in the middle-order," Gambhir said.
"We had the belief though that we could beat Australia and MS (Dhoni) did a fantastic job – he's always been a finisher."
"He stays calm and that important in these situations."
On the back of this win, the Indian's now face Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
Online sports betting site Centrebet has the Indian team as solid favourites at $1.55 vs $2.45 for Sri Lanka.

Tiger Woods Surges Into Contention
Tiger Woods has shot a very solid 5-under par 67 in the third round of the AT& T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Woods is now within four strokes of the lead and is set to make a run at his first PGA win since 2009. His play this week has been promising for the fans worldwide who can't wait to see the former world number one back on top of the world rankings doing what he does best, winning.
Only two months ago Woods had a small taste of success when won the Chevron World Challenge. Although not an official event, it certainly aided in building the confidence of Woods.
“A win is a win. I’ve won my share of events, and it feels good,” Woods said Saturday. “That’s the ultimate goal and that’s what we set out to do at the beginning of every event is to win it. That’s the goal tomorrow, as well.
“It’s a different swing. But the scenario doesn’t change.”
Tiger took just 27 puts on Saturday making five birdies and one bogey in his round of 67. Although Woods did not manage any birdies over the final eight holes, he also avoided making any mistakes also closing out the round with eight straight pars.
”The whole idea of making these swing changes was become more consistent and I’m starting to see that now,” Woods said. “I don’t hit the ball as far off line as I used to, and my ball doesn’t curve as much. Consequently my off-days are not as far off.
“I understand what I need to do. That’s the exciting part about it, is that the ball just doesn’t move as much as it used to.”
“That’s why we play is to be there and that’s why I train as hard as I do and practice as hard as I do is to put myself in those positions,” he said. “Of late, I’ve been putting myself in these positions, and it feels good.”
The leader heading into the final round is still Charlie Wi who carved a 3-under 69 on Saturday to remain 3 shots in the lead. Ken Duke is currently sitting in 2nd place at 12-under over the last three rounds.
Aussies Aaron Baddeley and Geoff Ogilvy are currently tied for 12th with both sitting at 7-under over three rounds.

Australia Defeat Sri Lanka in WACA Thriller
Australia has defeated Sri Lanka by five runs in a thrilling match at the WACA last night in front of 13,085 fans. The Aussies survived a tail-end surge from the Sri Lankan lineup who fell short in the closest match of the Commonwealth Bank Series to date.
The Australian team were first to bat and posted 232 runs on the back of a great captains knock from Michael Clarke who managed to hit 57 off 88. At one stage, the Aussie's looked as though they would struggle to post a competitive score as the Sri Lankan bowlers had them at 8-192. Thankfully for the Aussie's however, McKay (25) and Starc (14) pulled together a tail end effort to give the Aussie's a score they could defend.
The Aussie's were in total control when they had the Sri Lankan team against the ropes at 6-143 when all-rounder Angelo Mathews fought back with a strong 64 off of 76. Thanks to the heroic performance of Mathews, the Sri Lankan team required 18 from the final over. Mathews managed to hit a 4 then a 6 leaving the visitors needing only six runs from the final two balls with one wicket in hand, however he was caught in the deep going for the game winning shot giving the victory to Australia improving their try-series stats to two from two.
Australian captain Michael Clarke tweeted following the victory, "Thanks for all your very nice messages. A few more grey hairs but another pretty good win. Bowlers were outstanding tonight."
Following the heartbreaking loss, the Sri Lankan team is now just two wins from the last 17 One Day Internationals at the WACA.

Novak Djokovic Wins Laureus Award
Serbian tennis superstar Novak Djokovic has won the prestigious Laureus sportsman of the year award in London edging out Australian cycling's golden boy Cadel Evans.
Djokovic has had an incredible run over the past year winning four of the last five grand slams and joins fellow tennis players Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in taking out the Laureus award.
The Laureus Awards are an annual Sports Award that were established in 1999 by Daimler and Richemont and are supported by Global Partners Mercedes-Benz, IWC Schaffhausen and Vodafone. The selection process each year has two stages. First a selection panel comprising of the world's leading sports editors, writers and broadcasters from 80 countries vote to create a shortlist of six for each category. Then the members of the Laureus World Sports Academy vote by secret ballot to select the Award winners.
Each year, the Academy award for the following categories.
- Laureus World Sportsman of the Year
- Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year
- Laureus World Team of the Year
- Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year
- Laureus World Comeback of the Year
The win by Djokovic means that the award has been won by a tennis player in six of the last eight years, with Athletic superstar Usain Bolt being the only non-tennis player to win the award since 2005.
Kenyan Vivian Cheruiyot won the Laureus World Sportswoman of the year edging out Australian Sally Person thanks to her victory in Spain last year at the World Cross Country as well as her victories in the 5000m and 10,000m in Daegu.
New Zealand was hard done by missing out on the World Team of the year even after successfully winning the Rugby World Cup on their home turf, the award going to football superstar team FC Barcelona. FC Barcelona had an incredible 12 months winning both the Champions League and La Liga, enough for them to take out the title of the World Team of the year 2012.
Rory McIlroy took out the award for breakthrough of the year following his US Open win only two months after his US Masters meltdown.
Another Australian nominee was in the running for the Comeback of the year with the Queensland Reds making the shortlist thanks to their win in the Super Rugby against the Crusaders. However as was the case for Cadel Evans, the Aussies missed out once again with Northern Irish golfer Darren Clarke claiming the award for Comeback of the year after his win at the British Open at Royal St George's.
