Cameron Ling Retires On Top
Geelong captain Cameron Ling is today expected to announce is retirement from AFL football. They say the best way to go out is on top, and the Geelong superstar has done exactly that. The decision comes just three days after he led his team to their third AFL grand final win in five years, a win that he played a pivotal role in.
In the final game of his career he was tasked with tagging Brownlow medalist Dane Swan and he did an outstanding job holding the Collingwood star to 20 disposals. To cap off his career and grand final experience, Ling also managed to kick the final goal of the 38 point win for the Cats on Saturday.
Following in the footsteps of former Geelong premiership captain Tom Harley, Ling is expected to join the Channel 7 football team next year.
The Cat's will parade the premiership trophy through the streets of Geelong today, and it is expected that Ling will be the toast of the town.
