THE Sydney influence is set to continue with two Sydney Swans and a former Sydney Swan are among the six retiring players nominated for this year’s AFL Players Association Madden Medal award.

Sydney players have already won two of the four Madden Medals that have been presented.

First awarded in 2007 the Madden Medal is named after former greats Simon and Justin Madden and is presented to a retiring AFL player who throughout his career has demonstrated not just on-field brilliance, but off-field achievements along with personal growth and community spirit.

This years six nominees are:

Brady Rawlings (North Melbourne)

Camerong Ling (Geelong)

Cameron Moody (Geelong)

Craig Bolton (Sydney Swans)

Tadhg Kennelly  (Sydney Swans)

Barry Hall (Western Bulldogs)

The Madden Medal is decided on votes cast by the AFLPA board and delegate members.

The award will be presented at a function on Thursday, December 1, at Crown Casino where the AFLPA will also launch the AFL Players’ Alumni as they welcome all newly retired players into their fold.

Past winners of the Madden Medal have been:

2010-Brett Kirk (Sydney Swans)

2009-Michael O’Loughlin (Sydney Swans)

2008-Robert Harvey (St Kilda)

2007-Glenn Archer (North Melbourne)
